Marsh AS is the leading Scandinavian Marine insurance broker and risk adviser in Scandinavia, with offices in Oslo and Kristiansand in Norway, and in Gothenburg in Sweden.
Our pre-eminence is partially due to the fact that the Marsh Group have offices in Norway, Sweden, Finland and Denmark, as well as correspondent relationships with Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia, but also due to the fact that Scandinavians have been significant leaders in international shipping for more than 150 years, and the Scandinavian owned and controlled fleet is probably around 12.5% of the world’s merchant fleet and the 2nd largest amongst offshore service vessels.
As a consequence of this, Scandinavia not only has ship owners and shipbrokers, but also major shipping finance banks, shipyards, the DNV classification society, and, most importantly for Scandinavian Marine, three P&I clubs are based in Scandinavia – Gard, Skuld and the Swedish Club, as are several top and leading marine insurance companies.
Within Scandinavia, we act as insurance brokers and risk managers for a number of Scandinavian shipping companies, and we also act in this role to many international shipping companies, as well as acting as a supportive broker for other of our offices or national insurers in respect of international fleets. The Scandinavian market offers all the coverages that may be needed by ship owners, shipyards, cargo owners, freight forwarders, shipping banks etc., and has the capacity to absorb 100% of most major shipping related risks.
We offer our clients our expertise in strategic risk assessment, risk identification, risk analysis, risk mitigation, risk resolution and risk transfer. After analysis of our clients’ contracts, charter parties etc., we can advise and assist in placing the appropriate coverage at the best possible price and conditions.
We also act for our clients in helping them formulate any claims under the policies that we have arranged, and assist in the collection of such, as well as the posting of any bonds that may be required in order to ensure the continued operation of vessels without fear of arrest or detainment.
Finally, we work closely with all our Marsh offices throughout the world, and invite any enquiries.
